Learning about the world is a lifelong journey (contd.)
By the way, when was the last time you actually examined your view of the world?  Whether you’re only 10 years old or 30 or 80 or more, you do have a world view, of course.  You may not be able to put it into words—at least not very quickly or clearly—and you may not even be aware of everything that shaped that view.  Even so, it’s been under construction for a long time—maybe even decades.  It’s been shaped by where you were born and other places you’ve lived or visited, the schools you’ve attended, the people (and other living creatures) you’ve come in contact with, and many other life experiences.  So what does it look like now?  And how closely does it match what’s actually going on in our world?

Does even the thought of examining your world view seem like a daunting chore or perhaps make you very, very sleepy?  It seems like a chore to us, so here’s an alternative:  First, imagine your world view is like a fairly reliable car.  With regular tune-ups, some adjustments here and there and a few new parts now and then, that car continues to work just fine.  Now think of EFFE books as fast, easy and even enjoyable “tune-ups” for your world view.
